From coast to coast, spring is here. Whip out your sunglasses and flip flops, because we’re going to show you a handful of ways to easily transition from your old winter routine to your fresh and fun spring days.
1. Replace your blacks, greys, and browns with bright colors
Winter can be dark, dreary, and depressing. Warm clothes often reflect this, so try switching up your wardrobe with happy and fresh clothes. If it’s still cold where you live, you can spruce up your outfit with one bright piece, like this infinity scarf from Urban Outfitters will liven up any look with the perfect pop of color.

2. Do some serious spring cleaning
During winter, the cold weather often leaves us cooped up in our houses, which is the perfect recipe for hoarding unnecessary things in your living space. Getting rid of old, unused items can be a great mental refresher (not to mention it will leave extra room for you to do some spring shopping). Donating unwanted clothes and household items to your local Salvation Army or Goodwill is a great way to clean up your space while giving back to the community.
3. Store your winter clothes
Cleaning out your closet doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to necessities and wardrobe staples. However, you won’t be needing that heavy winter coat once it hits 75 degrees and the flowers are blooming in your backyard; since you won’t be using these warm clothes for another eight months, store them to clear up your living space. Throw these items in a cardboard moving box and toss them in the attic, basement, or bottom of the linen closet where they will be out of the way.
4. Brighten up your living space with colorful accent pieces
Spring is always associated with bright colors and flower patterns, so why not integrate these themes into your home? Add a pop of color by incorporating this adorable peony throw pillow and playful vase into your living space, both available at Target. You can get extra craftsy by adding an accent wall, which is easily accomplished with wallpaper or decals.
5. Kick at least one bad habit
The beginning of a new season can mark the start of a healthier lifestyle. Try getting rid of that one bad habit you’ve been meaning to dump, like smoking cigarettes or snacking late at night. Eliminating just one of these unhealthy behaviors can do wonders for both your body and mind.
6. Engage in a new, healthy trend
Once you’ve gotten rid of that awful bad habit, replace it with a healthy action to spring yourself into a fresh livelihood. This can be as simple as taking the stairs instead of an elevator, or a more significant approach like eliminating white carbs from your diet.
7. Incorporate more fresh foods into your diet
The beginning of spring means that more fresh fruits and vegetables will be at your disposal, so take advantage! Try adding fresh strawberries and blueberries to your salads, or substituting regular pasta for spaghetti squash. Click here to check out Food Network’s seasonal veggie recipe guide.

8. Open your windows
Possibly the easiest of steps on this list, simply opening your windows can make a huge difference in your everyday life. Chilling winter weather is no longer around, so don’t worry about getting frostbite in your bathrobe. The fresh spring air will be incredibly refreshing and mentally stimulating. Plus, you’ll be sure to hear birds chirping and catch a whiff of those gorgeous tulips and gardenias blooming outside.
