The first month of 2014 has come to an end, and the gym is starting to see less stragglers every day as many of the new year’s resolutions of starting a healthy lifestyle have begun to unfortunately fade out. Starting a healthy lifestyle is easy. You know what you have to do: eat healthy and workout, simple. It is after the first month of struggling do you realize there is no end to this ‘diet’ and it will have to become a lifestyle.

Once you decide to change the way you look at health, you realize that living a healthy lifestyle is not a chore at all, but is actually become a choice. Here are a few ways to help stick through the difficult first few months of starting a healthy lifestyle that will lead you to a new perspective and a new life.

Tip one: Blend, blend, blend!

One of the best ways to eat naturally healthy and raw would be to make juices or smoothies. This is a great way to get your greens in without constantly feeling like you have to order a salad everywhere you go. It will deliver vitamins and nutrients to your body that will give your fuel and nourishment. The fruits and vegetables are already blended up so they will give your digestive system a little break. These smoothies and juices taste so delicious too,  it won’t even feel like you’re being healthy. Once you pick up this habit, you will be amazed at how much more energized you feel, you won’t want to stop.

Tip two: Add a little color to your water

If you’ve started a healthy lifestyle, you’ve heard the tip probably countless times a day: drink water. Our bodies are supposed to take in half of your body weight in ounces of water a day. To a lot of people, that’s a huge amount more water than they are used to drinking. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated; it’s important to keep yourself out of that statistic and be apart of the movement to lower it. The problem a lot of people have with drinking water is “it has no taste.” This doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. Try adding lemons or frozen fruit to your water to give it a little bit of a twist. It’s super refreshing and adds sweetness to your water.

Tip three: Become a planner

Being frazzled is never healthy for anyone. You will feel much more calm if you have your days and workouts planned out. When it comes to exercise, it goes beyond just shaping the body’s appearance. It helps with a goodnight sleep, relieves stress, and produces feel good hormones that will keep you motivated to continue your healthy lifestyle throughout the day. By planning out your workouts for when you wake up in the morning, there will be no excuses for you to choose not to do it in the morning.

Tip four: Do what you love

If you don’t like running, don’t do it, but try it. It’s important to try out different activities you like to do to determine what you like and what you don’t. You are so much more motivated to doing what you love because you genuinely want to, rather than doing something because you feel like you have to. Find something you love to do and I guarantee you won’t even have to think twice about doing it.

Sticking to a healthy lifestyle is not an easy task, but it’s incredibly rewarding. The only true thing that we are completely sure of in life is that we have this moment, right now, today. So don’t wait any longer to live the healthy lifestyle you’ve always wanted. The future is never guaranteed.
