5 Things We Claim to Change in the New Year

It is not an easy task to rid of things you know you do not need, even if your therapist tells you otherwise. We are all completely aware of the many resolutions that take place with the start of a new year. People diet (in their minds), take on a hobby (join a book club), or even claim abstinence (depending on who you ask). Below are the top five things people claim to change when ringing in a new year, in my opinion of course.

1. Working Out is so Easy.

We all know those people. The ones who have purchased a new gym membership for the past four years and have yet to use it. We get it, we all want to be in shape, and claiming it certainly is not a bad thing. However, when you consistently act against it, it gets old. Really fast. So if truly desiring a fit lifestyle, be honest and realistic with yourself… and everyone else.

Weights.

2. Eating Less Carbs Will be Fine.

Food. We all need it. That doesn’t mean we should abuse the thought of it though. It is all about proportion, dedication and willpower. Yes, it is incredibly easier to write that than to state out loud. When really wanting to eat healthy though, green is the way to go. Just don’t forget that chocolate and loaded fries aren’t always necessarily a bad thing.

3. I’m Going to Implement a Savings.

New Year, new bank account? Most of us spend money on who even knows what, but you never know when that emergency fund your mom always hinted at will be needed. Direct deposits into a savings is a God send. Start small, and eventually you’ll forget why you never started this in the first place. Oh yeah, because shoes are oh so tempting.

Savings Account.

4. Who Needs a Relationship Status?

There are always the people who want to be in a relationship, and then there are all of those that say they want to be single. Everyone is different, we get it. But we don’t need an update of your status on Facebook every other day. Live life, whether that be alone or with a few pals if you know what I mean.

5. I Should Throw Out Those Size 2’s.

It is hard to believe that once upon a time we were somewhere in the range of a small. However, that was like 6 years and 13 diets ago. Time has passed and there’s no way those corduroys will still be in style (or will they)? Out with the old, and in with the new. But make it a large please.

It is great to have goals for oneself, but it is even better to be realistic with them. It is no secret that we all wish we were healthier, smarter, and maybe even a tad flirtier. Stay true to yourself, and just remember, no one likes a bragger. Unless you consumed an entire pizza in record timing of course.
